Typical axles use inboard CV joints that must both operate at an angle, and allow suspension travel. This dual purpose design limits articulation angle to about 25deg., while travel is limited to 1.25in. - 1.5in., which is inadequate for ATVs and UTVs with lift kits, or long-travel suspension
These axles utilize fixed Rzeppa inner CV joints that allow 45deg. of articulation, while a slip spline in the axle shaft provides 2in. of travel
